The 2010 Newport Beach Film Festival will screen over 350 feature length and short films. The 2010 NBFF will also host red carpet Opening and Closing Night Gala Celebrations, International Spotlight events, an Action Sports Film Series, an Environmental Film Series, a Family Film Series, a Collegiate Showcase, a Youth Film Showcase and a free Seminar Series. Isn't The Untold Story(1993) a horror film with Anthony Wong as a psycho who kills people and turns their bodies into Dim Sum? I haven't seen it yet.

I would've enjoyed this film had this film had a far better lead. Rain is an awful actor, also just as awful was the Janet Jackson look-a-like. Indeed I could've used more ninja and less assassin, oh and the quick cuts and hyper angles were also a big minus. Still it was nice to see Sho Kosugi on the big screen, Indeed I liked the gore as well, but it was Kosugi's sturdy villain that made the film even remotely entertaining. Hey, I don't know if anyone might be able to give me some advice but I don't know much about tracking down DVD's. I've been looking for the subtitled version of Beyond Hypothermia(Sip si 32 doe) for a long time. All I can find is the remade dubbed English version which is terrible. It's probably been out of print for a while, but I was wondering if anyone knows good websites to go to because...

I haven't seen None But the Brave, but I did like the review at hkfilm.net. Jo Shishido, who plays the villain in NBTB, also played Captain Joe in Fugitive Alien, a Japanese TV show that tried to cash in on Star Wars mania. Jo Shishido's sagging cheeks are his trademark! A "movie version" of Fugitive Alien was shown on Mystery Science Theater 3000. Boy, Cheng Pei Pei looks cute in None But the Brave.

The orchestra that played Handel's Messiah in "The Killer"

Can any of you tell me the name of the orchestra that played the Handel's Messiah music in John Woo's "The Killer"?

I'm talking about the orchestra that plays the song that's heard straight after the Holy Virgin Mary statue is shot to pieces in the church shootout.

Do any of you know if the Handel's Messiah song from "The Killer" is available on a CD, like maybe if there's a soundrack CD of "The Killer"?

Bruce Lee: His Last Days, His Last Nights(1976) was on IFC yesterday at 2:00 A.M. As Ric Meyers claimed in his Great Martial Arts Movies book, and I quote, the film is a "trashy farce"! Dragon The Bruce Lee Story(1993) had more veracity.

Betty Ting Pei played herself and Danny Lee(from John Woo's The Killer) played Bruce Lee!!!

Still, the film is worth a look for die hard Bruce Lee fans. In the casino scene, there's an old Chinese guy with a tuxedo and...

On 8/10/09, the Hollywood premiere of Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" took place. I decided to go to the premiere, if there was a chance that Maggie Cheung(who I read has a cameo in "IB") and Angelina Jolie would be there. So I stood near the red carpet area, to try to take pictures of the stars when they arrive.

Brad and Angelina were there, and I took some pictures of Angelina and also shook hands w/ her.

However, it looks like...

I was reading a paperback copy of I am Jackie Chan(printed in 1998). It's Chan's words told by author Jeff Yang.

Yang seems to have printed some misinformation: Sibelle Hu was in My Lucky Stars, not its predecessor, Winners and Sinners. The title Shanghai Noon is a play on the Gary Cooper western High Noon. Yang claims that John Wayne was in High Noon...which of course, he wasn't. Wayne didn't like High Noon; he thought it was too "left winged".

Gojira/Godzilla: King of the Monsters

Today, for the first time, I saw the original, 1954 Japanese version of Gojira/Godzilla. I, among others, grew up watching the 1956 Americanized version of Gojira, Godzilla: King of the Monsters on VHS. It features insert shots of Raymond Burr looking and reacting. Only 60 minutes of footage from the Japanese version remains in the US cut. Still, it has more heart and soul than Roland Emmerich's critically-reviled 1998 remake of Godzilla.

The Big Boss/Fists of Fury

I own an HK DVD and a UK DVD copy of The Big Boss. I also own the crappy Canadian DVD from Madacy with the elongated, stretched out format and playback problems during the last ten minutes of the film. One good thing about the Canadian DVD is it preserves footage of Hsiu Hsien/Shu Shane and his "brothers" running up to the ice factory. Most versions deleted the footage for the sake of quality. The HK version and the English dub have two, distinctly different music scores! The HK one...

An asian animation.. anyone have any ideas?

All I remember from the film was that, at one point, the main character is saved by a whale.

I think she had long hair. The whale opens its mouth and lying in the centre, unconscious, is the girl. The ocean was all sparkly and pretty.

Does anyone know what this film is? I think it's Japanese. Please help ^^

The critics hated it, but I think it's worth a rental. The recent Mummy movies aren't exactly avant garde or works of art! For a Hollywood movie, it has Hong Kong entertainers running the gamut from Jet Li to Michelle Yeoh to Isabella Leung to Anthony Wong. There's a scene where the heroes are helped out by three abominable snowmen.

"I will pet him...and hug him....and squeeze him...and call him George."

A friend sent me links to these sites where you can watch Asian TV dramas and Films free. There are a lot of good titles and everything, even the TV dramas are subtitled. Some of the movies are linked to ones you can see on Youtube.
