This place has been very quiet lately. How many regulars still visit here? Whats with the lack of postings, have we all grown tired of each other?

Don't know... I've been away all week (at least not near a computer for much of the time... then finally got my new laptop on Friday, but obviously
haven't posted). I thought this topic was going to be about the Rickie Gervais movie... which I have quite high on my netflix queue, so I should be getting
it soon.
Go Brewers.
Bless you, Ants. Blants.

I'm not much of a conversationalist. I prefer to observe and interject occasionally with my own brand of stupidity.

Been on vacation. Have a few 'recently watched movies' to post. Soon.

I post about 100 times a day. EQ keeps on deleting my posts.

There just isn't much to write about lately. Hopefully, that will change soon - I've got me a shipment of DVDs coming which includes Ip Man, Red Cliff
2, The Beast Stalker, Good/Bad/Weird, and If You Are The One. Otherwise, I'll just go back to watching more pr0n which doesn't really generate much in
the way of writing.

Am I the only one here who doesn't really watch any recent Asian movies? I can probably count the number of Asian movies from the last five years that
I've seen on both hands.

Joe wrote: I try to watch what I can from Hong Kong, but there's next to nothing coming out. I think they made like 25 movies last year, probably even less if you take out the HK/China productions. And it's not just this site that is slow. I just went through and cleaned up my links page and there were a ton of sites that were either completely gone or haven't updated in years. I think it's pretty safe to say that the Asian cinema fad in the States has pretty much died. I know that at least for my site that it gets about half of the traffic it used to, even though I am updating it more frequently and it always seems to be ranked pretty high on Google searches. |

Whats with the lack of HK films being produced? How on earth did it become so low?

A bunch of different reasons. A big part of it is that HK producers overkilled things during the "golden age" and released far too many cheap movies
to the point that local audiences grew tired of HK movies and went to Hollywood stuff instead. There's also stuff like the continued rise of piracy, lack
of good new talent, the appearance of other locales like KOrea being more favorable places to shoot, film-makers not wanting to water their films down for the
Mainland market, etc.

Well, if Equinox could fully reinstate my privileges...LOL
So I guess HK cinema is pretty close to being deader than dog shit, is that correct? I believe you can't entirely blame the decline of HK cinema on my descent into being obsessed with Cannon Films shit, etc. In fact, it probably doesn't share even a quarter of the blame in my case. A lot of the Asian movies I've been obsessed with have been "extreme cinema" or whatever. "Red to Kill," "Visitor Q," "Ichi the Killer," "The Untold Story," etc. Are even US-HK coproductions on the decline? |

When I saw "Ghost Town" I thought of that song by the Specials.
This is really one of the 2 forums I check anymore. Not a lot of time lately but I make it a point to check around here almost daily. Some other sites are starting to sound like a bunch of old ladies in a beauty parlor complaining about everything. A Hong Kong movie equivilent of a Star Trek convention. No offense to Star Trek fans but I've been to one of those conventions, I've seen it with my own eyes. I give Neil all the credit in the world with his site. He's like the Terminator. Well, at least a terminator that stays in the future. Even the most advanced models seem to be outwitted by last year's model and some humans when they go back in time. I think Neil's safe though. Haven't updated my site in a while. It's hard to watch a movie a couple of times to make sure I catch everything. If I don't mention that a
gunshot at 1:23:02 is out of sync somebody will mention it. I still enjoy the movies tremendously though. I really want to see Ong Bak 2. It's a lot of
time involved in keeping a site going though.
